Traveling on
(Poetry Form)
The days go by as I lay here in sorrow
Wondering to myself, will I see tomorrow
I’m looking for love, a woman to hold
Nights are so empty, in my bed I’m so cold
My woman is out there, she is one of a kind
That beauty seems so hard to find
People don’t understand why I live this way
I believe in my heart I will have her someday
I am traveling on from city to city
Living a life in hell as it seems
Never seem to be happy anymore
In this world of broken dreams
When I took off and left from Memphis
I left the love of my life behind
I took the chance of being alone
She’s waiting there, she’s forever mine
We’ve kept in touch as the months go by
Looks like our love shall never fade
How could our love be so strong
Seems it grows stronger every day
When I left, there were brief goodbyes
The loneliness was enough punishment
Now I want to return to her heart
I told her this would not be permanent
Many a night, I’ve cried on the phone
Waiting to be in her arms again
I understand what I did was wrong
She’s got to forgive so we can begin
Begin mending these broken hearts
Putting pieces together of shattered souls
Lets forgive and then we can forget
We’ll be together as we both grow old…
